Job Summary 13;
Outpatient Financial Counselor is responsible for the insurance verification and identification of covered and non:covered services, explanations of benefits structures, necessary follow:up with families, education and information re: referral issues, authorization questions, billing questions including contract participation, general financial counseling activities and superb, family:centered customer service for all New Jersey Specialty Care Center Locations.
Job Responsibilities 13;
:Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all billing policies and procedures with regard to CHOP and the physician practice plans contracts and issues.
:Contact insurance carriers to verify eligibility and obtain coverage information prior to patient visit or prior to end of visit
:Evaluate uninsured families for Medical Assistance/Public Health Insurance in accordance with state income guidelines
:During calls for insurance verification purposes, collects information regarding total benefit structure and covered/non:covered services.
:Handle calls from patient families and staff regarding various billing issues 13;
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations 13;
None 13;
Required Education and Experience 13;
:High school diploma or equivalent.
:Previous customer service background.
:Previous managed care and/or insurance background. 13;
Preferred Education, Experience and Cert/Lic 13;
:Associates or Bachelors degree.
:Previous hospital and/or physician office billing experience.
:IDX computer experience.
:Healthcare registration experience. 13;
