**Job Description**
The Director, Model Risk Governance & Controls reports to the Senior Vice President, Model Risk Management, and is accountable for the development and implementation of policies, frameworks, and guidelines in addition to oversight of Model Risk Reporting and data quality.
**Job Requirements**
As a subject matter expert the person in this role will interact with senior members of Risk Management and the wider risk management community in the business and corporate segments, as well as other control functions and occasionally with external partners and advisors. The position includes people management responsibilities, mentoring and development.
Develop Model Risk governance frameworks, standards and practices and effectively implement them throughout the Bank working in close partnership with TDBG Model Risk Management (MRM) and respective business leaders / management;
Maintain the ongoing development, monitoring and reporting of the Bank's Risk Appetite Statement as it relates to Model Risk, including the escalation of Risk Appetite threshold and limit breaches to the Chief Risk Officer and other senior risk and business leaders.
Lead the work effort to develop and implement robust reporting processes to assess and monitor the effectiveness of governance frameworks / adherence to standards;
Research best practices for banking governance matters and socialize with senior leaders as appropriate;
Act as the primary internal subject matter expert and develop organization capability around Model Risk governance and decision processes aligned with TD s operating model and risk strategy;
Work with senior business partners to assess model candidates and ensure proper oversight is in place and aligned with Verification to Validation Guidelines.
Support Model Risk Management audit remediation to ensure findings are resolved in a timely manner, and maintain effective communication with senior audit and control process leaders;
College Degree
12-15 years of risk, financial, project management experience
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and problem solving skills.
Superior interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and obtain consensus among key stakeholders.
The candidate must work well in fast paced environment with the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously and work with changing priorities, while respecting competing deadlines.
Strong organizational and follow up skills, coupled with careful attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and rationalize recommendations to senior management and executives.
Ability and flexibility to work in a fluid and deadline oriented work environment.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
